A prestigious design was produced by Clive Clark and Peter Alliss and work began in the late 1980's. Unfortunately, like a lot of development at this time, money ran out and work stopped after digging a lot of big holes and moving a lot of soil. The site was then left untouched for 6 years, and became completely overgrown.
The current owners bought the land from the liquidators in 1994 and began by completely redesigning the layout, leaving only one hole from the original design. Construction work began spring 1995 and finished with the seeding of the course in September of that year. The course was then allowed to settle for 18 months before opening in May 1997. A large, modern, but traditional clubhouse was built to coincide with the opening of the course.
